fk Semor Class Ofhcers STANDING Mr Anderson Sponsor Mary Lang Secretary SEATED Jack Kmg Presxdent Sylv1aShortr1dge Treasurer and Larry Barnett Vxce Pres1dent Semor Class H lstory In September, 1951 fxfty one nervous Freshmen entered the halls of V H S to beg1n four years of hxgh school To lead our class that year we elected Larry Barnett, Pres1dent Jack Kmg, V1ce Pres1dent Sylv1a Shortudge Secretary Carol Snow, Treasurer Mr Cerveny was elected sponsor of the class B11ly Petef1sh, Rosella Anderson, and Jrmmy Sm1th represented the class on the Student Counc11 Our carmval queen cand1date was Ruth Sours Forty three Sophomores returned 1n the fall of 1952 to begm another year As our offmcers we elected Jack Kmg, Presxdent, .hmmy Sm1th, VICC Presxdent A11ce Haywood Secretary, Sylv1a Shortr1dge Trea urer Mr Kays was elected to adv1se the act1v1t1es of the class The Student Counc1l members from our class were Carol Snow, Carolyn Krxeg, Larry Barnett, and .I1mmy Smxth As Halloween Carnxval cand1 dates we elected J1mmy Sm1th and A11ce Haywood Two members of the class of '52, 'A11ce Haywood and Donna Ross1, were cheerleaders In September, 1953, th1rty mne conhdent Jumors met to elect off1cers These off1cers, chosen to exe cute the dut1es of our most 1mportant year thus far, were Denny Young, Pres1dent B111 Petef1sh V1ce P1-esxdent Rosella Anderson, Secretary Carol Snow, Treasurer Mr Anderson was our competent adv1sor The Student Counc1l members were Al1ce Haywood, Larry Barnett, B111 Petefxsh, and J1mmy Sm1th Cand1 dates for Carn1valK1ng and Queen were Freddy Crawford and Rosella Anderson Al1ce Haywood, Donna Rossx, and Carol Snow were chosen as cheerleaders Under the d1rect1on of M1ss Gustafson we presented a verv successful class play 'Smarter and Smoother The remamder of the year was spent toward malung the Jun1or Sen1or Prom, held at the Elks Club 1n Spr1ngf1e1d, a great success Before anyone real1zed 1t, the class of '55 had begun thelr Sen1or year at V H S The fol1ow1ng of f1cers led the class through our f1nal year 1n h1gh school Jack Kxng, Pres1dent Larry Barnett, V1ce Pres1 dent Mary Ellen Lang Secretary and Sylv1a Shortndge, Treasurer Mr Anderson was re elected sponsor of the class The fo1low1ng members of the class served on the Student Counc11 Al1ce Haywood, Mary Brxggs, Donna Ross1, B111 Petef1sh Allen Frank, John Shaner, and Larry Barnett Three Semor gn-ls Al1ce Haywood, Donna Rossx, and Rosella Anderson, were elected cheerleaders After three years of fa1l ure, the class of '55 succeeded 1h placmg our carmwal candxdates, Donna Petefxsh and Jack Kmg, on the throne to rexgn as Kmg and Queen of the fourth Halloween Carmval The re st of the year was occup1ed w1th presentmg our class play, workmg on the annual, and completmg several other projects At last the class of 55 had reached the end of four successful years at V H S 1 . . -N A sf 3 - .
