After three weeks of hard summer practice, the Bearcats romped over Battle 35-7. Next they journeyed to Pound for a non-district clash with the Wildcats. The Orangemen came out with a big 30-12 win. Gate City ' s Big Blue Cannonball rolled into Bristol and walked away with a hard earned 38-0 victory over the Bearcats. Abingdon ' s Falcons came to town and stole a 22-15 decision. The Bearcats then handed highly regarded Marion a 40-12 defeat in a brilliant team effort. The ' Cats then lost to a tough Central team by a 31-8 count, and then marked up two consecutive wins against Patrick Henry and Graham. With the entire staff ' s help, the 1972 yearbook was assembled to meet our dead- lines. This was of upmost importance to assure shipment on time. Pictures, copy, and identifica- tion were gathered weeks in advance so that they could be compiled and arranged properly. Corrections were to be made and proofs to be checked. Throughout this year these goals were reached through hours of struggling. I wish to thank those who stayed after school many long hours to complete their assignments. I would also like to thank photographers Mike El- lis, Tom Daniel, and Ron Freeman and photo-lab assistant George Hagy. Thanks are also in order for Miss Brown, the Virginian sponsor, for her pa- tience, understanding, and guidance and for Mr. Jack Cross, our American Yearbook Representa- tive. Lastly, I would like to express my apprecia- tion to the faculty, administration, and entire stu- dent body of Virginia High School for their sup- port and cooperation.
