V.I.C.A. Helps Students Get Jobs Front: Kenneth Miller and Leon Peters are busily working at the Coke plant. Vocational Industrial Clubs of Ame- rica is a cooperative plan of training for Juniors and Seniors who attend school one half day and train on the job for a minimum of fifteen hours per week. Work consists of a variety of jobs such as baking, auto mechanics, dental assistants, cosmetology, auto parts, stock, bottling, meat packing, domestic aids, cooks, and laboratory assistants. Leadership training is emphasized through district, state, regional and na- tional contests: these contests are speech, job interview, spelling, drafting, etc. Front: President Jackson, 1st Vice President Lowe, 2nd Vice President Leonard, Secretary McCray, Treasurer Baker, Reporter Jessie, Business manager Willis. Decorating the school for special events, art exhibits and display work kept Art Club members busy all year. One special activity is the designing and paint- ing of a gigantic mural for the Annual Spring Festival. Field trips sponsored by the club help art students to become acquainted with and develop an appreciation for the many cultural offerings of our community. 100
