Back sidewalks, cobbled alleyways and a ininiinun of f rass compounded by a maximum of asphalt parkin i lots and b isy thoroughfares all con? bine to set R. P. I. aside as a unic ue physical plant of higher learning . . . each cam pus is defined as much by its particular atmosphere as by its academic reputation and physical setting. The shuffle of education begins uitfj tfje confusion of drawn out registration and the insecurity of new town, new restric- tions and new friends and carries through the next four years ivith classes, parties, walks in the cemetery, romance, solitude — it ends, for about one-third of tfjose w jo begin, with a degree. During four years of student life at R. P. I. every individual passes by lamp post after lamp post as he engages in the various academic curricular and extra-curricular activities — labs and lectures, a beer with a friend, bull sessions in the dorms, and a hundred other things remembered and valued by each person alone. But altiootigh tJje student sees the liglot he never stops or takes time to see his activity in the glow by the light. In the pages of this l?ook we the Cobblestone staff would like to show the student his daily environment as seen BEYOND THE LIGHT . . .
