' - EXECUTIVE OFFICER PAST aft PRESEN it CDR MCBRIDE LCDR FLANAGAN 8 Commander McBride graduated from Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda, Maryland in 1972 and from George Institute of Technology fGeorgia Techj in 1976 with a degree of Bachelor of Electrical Engineering. He received his commission as an Ensign, United States Navy upon graduation and he immediately began training in the Naval Nuclear Power School in Orlando, Florida and six months at the Nuclear Propulsion Training Unit in Ballston Spa, New York, he reported as R Gr Division Officer on board the USS TRUXTON ICGN-351. During this ' tour, he completed his Nuclear Engineer's QualiHcation. In 1980, he reported aboard the USS CALIFORNIA ICGN-362 as DCA where he also completed his Surface Warfare qualification. In 1982, he reported to the Surface Warfare Officer School in Newport, Rhode Island where he was 1 an instructor in the Department Head School. Following his tour in Newport, Commander McBride served as Weapons OfHcer aboard USS CHARLE I-1 ADAMS IDDG-22 where he completed the qualiHcations for Tactical Action OfHcer, Command Duty OfHcer, and Command. In 1987 and 1988, he served as Executive OfHcer at the Naval Nuclear Power School in Orlando, Florida. Following a 5 month tour as Executive OfHcer aboard USS CALIFORNIA ICGN-362 in 1989, he reported aboard USS VIRGINIA ICGN-381 as Executive OfHcer. He is presently serving on the staff Commander in Chief Atlantic Fleet. His awards include a Navy Commendation Medal and three Navy Achievement Medals. '1 Commander McBride is married to the former Mary Elisabeth Ellis of Tallahassee, Florida. They have two childreng Lara Elisabeth and Anne Christine. They reside in Virginia Beach, Virginia. g 'Q Lieutenant Commander Glenn Flanagan is a 1974 graduate of john S. Shaw High School in Mobile, Alabama. He entered the Navy via the United States Naval Academy, Class of 1978, graduating with a Bachelor P' of Science degree in Chemistry. Soon after graudation he attended the Navy's Nuclear Propulsion School in Orlando, Florida and the Naval Nuclear Protype Training Unit in Ballston Spa, New Yorlc. From April 1980 to April 1982, Lieutenant Commander Flanagan served in USS SOUTH CAROLINA ICGN-371 as Electrical and Reactor Controls ,. Division Officer. From May 1982 until June 1984, he served as the Reactor Mechanical Assistant in USS NIMI TZ ICVN-682. A tour as a post graduate student resulted in the award of a Master of Science degree in Chemistry from Auburn University in August 1986. Lieutenant Commander Flanagan also served as Operations OfHcer in USS Q 4 HAL YBUR TON IFFG-401 from April 1987 through September 1988. His most recent tour was as the Surface Nuclear Assignment OfHcer at the Naval Military Personnel Command in Washington, D.C Among his numerous professional awards are the Navy Achievement Medal and three Navy Commendation Medals. 4, Lieutenant Commander Flanagan is married to the former Margie Kirskey. The Flanagans's have two children, Glenn and Mia. 4

Captain Ralph H Lipfert was born in Washington, D.C in 1945. A Navy junior, he grew up at various locations on the east coast. He graduated from the U.S. Na val Academy in 1966 and en tered Naval Nuclear Propulsion Training. His first at-sea assignment was Reactor Control OfHcer and Electrical Officer in USS TRUXTUN ICGN-351. Subsequently, he was assigned to USS NIMI TZ ICVN-682 as Reactor Mechanical Assistant and USS VIRGINIA ICGN-381 as commissioning Engineer OfHcer. He served as Executive OfHcer in USS MISSISSIPPI ICGN 401, and helped that billet when MISSISSIPPI was awarded the Battenburg Cup, symbolic of the best ship in the U.S. Atlantic Fleet. He commanded USS DONALD B. BEARY IFF 10851 from 1984 until 1986. Under his command BEARY participated in Libyan operations in April 1986. Most recently he was the Commissioning Reactor OfHcer in USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN I C VN-721. Ashore, Captain Lipfert served as the surface assistant at the Division of Naval Reactors, US. Department of Energy. He earned the degree of Ocean Engineer from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and is a graduate of the Armed Forces Staff College. His decorations include the Meritorious Service, Navy Expeditionary, Armed Forces Expeditionary, and Wetnam Service medal. He also wears the Battle E Ribbon I3 awardsj, Navy Unit Commendation, and the Meritorious Unit Commenda- tion. Captain Lipfert is married to the former Christine Bonds of Wrginia Beach, Virginia.
