EXECUTIVE OFFICER PRESENT Lieutenant Commander McBride graduated from Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda, Maryland in 1972 and from Georgia Insti- tute of Technology IGeorgia Techj in 1976 with a degree of Bachelor of Electrical Engineering. He received his commission as an Ensign, United States Navy upon graduation and he immediately began training in the Naval Nuclear Power School in Orlando, Florida and six months at the Nuclear Propulsion Training Unit in Ballston Spa, New York, he reported as R Division Officer on board the USS TR UXTON ICGN-351. During this tour, he completed his Nuclear Engineer's Qualification. In 1980, he reported aboard the USS CALI- FORNIA ICGN-362 as DCA where he also completed his Surface Warfare qualification. In 1982, he reported to the Surface Warfare Officer School in Newport, Rhode Island where he was an instructor in the Department Head School. Following his tour in Newport, Lieutenant Commander McBride served as Weapons OfHcer aboard USS CHARLES F ADAMS IDDG-21 where he completed the qualiH- cations for Tactical Action OfHcer, Command Duty Officer, and Command. In 1987 and 1988, he served as Executive Officer at the Naval Nuclear Power School in Orlando, Florida. Following a 5 month tour as Executive Officer aboard USS CALIFORNIA ICGN- 361 in 1989, he reported to his current duty as Executive Officer aboard USS VIRGINIA KCGN-381. His awards include a navy Com- mendation Medal and three Navy Achievement Medals. Lieutenant Commander McBride is married to the former Mary Elisabeth Ellis of Tallahassee, Florida. They have two children, Lara Elisabeth, age 7 and Anne Christine, age 5. They currently reside in Wrginia Beach, Virginia. LC DR MCBRIDE EXECUTIVE OFFICER 9 7

After commissioning and Nuclear Power Training, he reported to USS SOUTH CAROLINA KCGN-37j in February 1975. He then reported to the Nuclear Power Training Unit in Idaho Falls, Idaho for two years of instructor duty. After attend- ing Department Head School in Newport, Rhode Island, he served as Weapons OfHcer in USS I OHN KING IDDG-32 for two years and then as Electrical Officer in USS NIMI TZ KCVN-681 from 1982 to 1985. He then served a tour of duty from 1985 to 1988 as a mem ber of the Nuclear Propulsion Examining board on the staff of the Com- mander in Chief US. PaciHc Fleet. His next command is as a mem- ber of the Nuclear Power Mobile Training Team. Commander Chapman is married to the former Susan Green of Fairfax, Virginia. They and their children reside in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
