The shipmates crazed with joy, now that they're over the hump and sea worthy veterans. The day which marked the midpoint in the 6 month deployment welcomed a mini-concert by the ship's band, the Ratz . Most enjoyed the All-American style picnic. Special attractions were the pretty legs contest, egg tossing for marksmenship, and egg rolling for the professional nose roller. Though the highlight should have been the costume contest, the largest turnout was the tug-of-war contest in which gunnersmates tug down all competition. The deck was gray, not green like grass for our picnic, but the ants were no problem.
