Operations LCDR WAHLIG, son of Mrs. Dorothea Wahlig, was born and raised in Kirkwood, Missouri. He attended Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology prior to receiving his commission in I966. LCDR WAHLIG's first duty assignment was Assist- ant CIC Officer aboard USS TACONIC CAGC- 175. He then served as precommissioning Operations Officer and as CIC Officer aboard USS SCHOFIELD CDEG-37 from January 'I968 to October 1969. After graduating from Destroyer School in Newport, Rhode Island, he served as operations Officer aboard USS DAVIDSON IDE-10453 from August 'I970 to February l972. LCDR WAHLIG served in the Bureau of Naval Personnel-Officer Plans Section from October 'I974 to December I976 and attended TAO and NTDS schools in Dam Neck, Virginia prior to reporting aboard VIRGINIA. LCDR WAHLIG attended the Naval Post- graduate School in Monterey, California from February I972 to September I974 where he received a Master of Science degree in Operations Research and Systems Analysis. He is married to the former Miss Mary Ann Gruenenfelder of Des Peres, Missouri. The The WAHLIGS have three children: Stephen, Lisa, and Patricia, and they reside in Norfolk.
