Though it was rather small in size, the '65 track team had one of the best crops of talent it has had in a long time. Every member of the team helped in the scoring, and many of them tallied consistently in the meets. Since there were not enough boys on the team, over half of them competed in two or more events. The Seahawk track team was led by Chris Han- son, Floyd Wilson, and Bob Taylor. Putting forth its best effort against Norfolk Catholic, the team lost by seven points. Constant bad weather hampered practicing, and therefore only three meets were able to be scheduled. The l966 varsity track team should get off to a good start with nine of sixteen boys return- ing. Among those returning are Floyd Wilson, Bob Taylor, Melvin Mathias, Steve Ervin, Ernie Austin, Bob Nixon, John Evans, Reggie Ryals, and Donald Bradley, 1965 Track Scores Va. The l965 tennis team produced one of the best seasons in Seahawk net history, while competing in Group I for the first time. Nor- folk tennis powers, Maury and Granby, were the only opponents the Seahawks were unable to defeat. Lettermen Bill Doubt and senior Donnie Johnson, the No. l and No. 2 men re- spectively, combined 23 wins against only 4 losses in singles and doubles to pace the team. Va. Beach.8 Va. Beach.7 Va.
