Virginia Beach started off the '65-'66 basketball season with high hopes and quickly ran up four impressive wins. Floyd Wilson kept the team alive with almost a twenty-two point scoring average. Virginia Beach beat Bayside for its first win and gained its second win over Cox on a free throw by Steve Ervin with two seconds remaining in the game. After a defeat to league favorite Princess Anne, Virginia Beach won two more games over Bayside and Deep Creek. ln its next outing against a strong Wilson team, Virginia Beach was edged out after overcoming an early deficit. Misfortune set in on the team when Floyd Wilson injured his ankle during the first quarter of the Kel- lam game and was lost to the team for the rest of the year. Hampered by such problems the squad plummetted to thirteen straight de- feats, i i Floyd takes off on jumper against Deep Creek.
