The Princess Anne Hotel, owned by the same railroad, provided a haven for sportsmen and those seeking a quiet rest. There were diversified amusements offered. With time and progress the small resort gradually changed from the quiet, backwoods atmosphere of the l89O's into a small town with stores along l7th Street and Atlantic Avenue by the early l92O's. Plans for a new road running along the present 3lst Street were in progress. Now an even greater change is evident. The town has developed into a booming resort city, known for its modern accommodations and amusements. Having traveled a long road of progress and development, it has emerged as The World's Largest Resort City, Vir- ginia Beach. 2
