VARSITY SECOND IN REGULAR SEASON The Virginia Beach varsity basketball team, in its fourth year under Coach Bob Coulthard, compiled another enviable record: the Seahawks tied with Deep Creek for sec- ond place-at the end of the regular season. One highlight of the season was the victory over last year's District Champion, South-' hampton, after a brilliant fourth quarter rally by the Seahawks. The Seahawks' first conference defeat came at the hands of Prince George, the team that went on to win the conference cham- pionship. The second defeat came at Deep Creek where a tremendous fourth quarter Mgr. Buddy Williams Sponsored by Ferrell Linoleum and Tile Co. rally by the Seahawks failed to bring vic- tory. The third regular season loss occurred in the final game when Holland scored a big upset over V.B.H.S. In non-conference play, the Seahawks de- feated Oscar Smith, a Group I school, but lost twice to Norfolk Catholic and once to Princess Anne, another Group I foe. Next year George Chappell, the leading Seahawk scorer and team captain, will be greatly missed as will David Jones and Bo Bosher, who also provided the team with many points. Mgr. David Goheen
