The Student Cooperative Association is an organization established and controlled by the students. It is maintained to encourage honesty, helpfulness, and cooperation be- tween the students and faculty of the school. Each student in school is a member of the S. C. A., and he is represented by the presi- dent of his homeroom. Included on the coun- cil are the editors of the newspaper and an- nual. Bi-monthly the council meets to discuss fits projects and the problems of the stu- ents. Some of the projects for this year were as follows: the Beach Bowl, the Surf Queen Ball, the Clean-Up Campaign, the Educa- tional Forum, Visitation Day, Open House, the Magazine Campaign, Homeroom Christ- mas Baskets, the Telephone Directory, the .Student Handbook, and the Speakers Bureau. We wish to add our word of appreciation to Col. Mack for his endless cooperation and fine work with the S. C. A. I. C. C. Plans Project The Inter-Club Council of the Virginia Beach High School is a segment of the Stu- dent Cooperative Association. It conducts the school club program. There are twenty- two clubs which meet on specified dates throughout the year and conduct business, social, or technical meetings for the enlight- ment and entertainment of the members. No student may belong to more than one club. Each has a faculty sponsor who is re- sponsible for its success. The head of the Inter-Club Council is the president of the S. C. A. assisted by the vice-president. The council itself is made up of the presidents of all of the clubs. Row 1-Susan Mayer, Betsy Gilliam. Row 2-Sue Camp, Frank Blanchard, Bill Reuger. The Junior Civitan Club is a civic organi- zation designed to help train young people in citizenship and leadership throughout the school and community. The Virginia Beach club has received the award for the outstanding club in the Dis- trict for the second year in a row. A banquet was given for the new mem- bers, safety stickers Were passed out, fruit cakes were sold, and a convention was at- tended this year by the members.
