The Virginia Beach High School basketball team, led by co-captains Vincent Grayson and Bob Gormly, compiled a greatly improved record and entered the district tournament in a two ,way tie with the Great Bridge Wildcats for first place. Coach Bob Coulthard con- tributed much time and effort while working the Seahawks back into the first rate team to which Virginia Beach had been accus- tomed. Testing their strength on Group I schools this year the Seahawks downed the Suffolk Red Raiders once and the Princess Anne Cavaliers twice. The first Princess Anne game was Won for the Seahawks by a half-court jump shot by co-captain Vince Grayson which ended the game. The last buzzer sounded just -after the ball left Gray- son's hand, thus ending the tie and giving the Seahawks a 46 to 44 victory. Virginia Beach triumphed at the second meeting of the two teams and ended the hopes of the Cavaliers for a reversed decision. Keville, Grayson, and Gormly, first string seniors, will be missed greatly next year. All three boys played exceptionally fine for the Seahawks. 5, at YL?
