FRESHMAN CLASS HISTORY When school opened on the morning of August 19th, a small group of 83 freshmen and fresh-women gathered- into the classroom. While they were talking and spreading gossip, some- thing poked its head round the door-it was Professor Browning. This was the beginning of our acquaintance with the teachers . Schedules were made and studies began. The boys and girls were put in separate rooms, a fact which gave the girls a chance between periods to put on new faces and slick-up their hair. The greenhorned girls soon gave the girls in other classes some competition, and our freshman boys would cause any girl to swoon. When the prettiest girl and most handsome boy were elected for king and queen of the Hallo- we'en Carnival, we were all equally proud that one of our sweet freshiman girls, Hazel Sumner, was elected for queen. The freshmen had class organization and Elizabeth Brashear was elected as class president. With the help of Mr. Browning, our class officials drew up a class Constitu- tion, to which we all gave o-ur fapproval. The end of the first semester rolled around, and our grades turned out to be pretty good . Christmas holidays were greatly welcomed by us freshmen, but when they were over, we were all glad to be back with our teachers, books, worries, and each other! The freshmen's most romantic triangle was that of Jack Burchwell, Billy Flo Strong, and Hazel Sumner. He likes them both so well he can't make up his mind. But d0I1't worry, Jack, you have three more years to decide. iAAs time dragged on, the freshmen decided to give 2- party on Saturday night, March 22. A good crowd turned up and everyone had a good time. Our chaperons were Miss Kitty, Miss Edna, and Mr. Browning. We hope they enjoyed being there as much as we enjoyed having them. The end of the year has come at last. Some are sad and others glad, but we have enjoyed this year, and hope we haven't added too many gray hairs to our teachers' heads!
