HIGHLIGHTS OF OUR HIGH SCHOOL DAYS We embarked upon our still unfinished career as high school students August 2, 1943. There were about twenty- five freshmen in our class and although they called us green, we couldn't for the life of us see anything green about our class. We felt that as far as education was concerned, we had already learned all there was to know. That was 'before we met Miss Combs, Miss Kitty and Mr, Halcomb in the class- rooms. After they started in on us it slowly dawned upon us just what they meant when they called us green freshmen. We thought we were not being noticed enough so in the early fall of '43 we decided that we would sponsor a pie sup- per, the proceeds of which would be used for buying a War Bc-nd for our class. Some of our class fell by the wayside that first year, but at the end of the year, we still had enough in our class to let everyone know we were a part of the Viper High School. We'd had a good time as freshmen, so we decided that school couldn't open the next fall without us. On July 31, 1944, we cafme 'back to school again, but this time we were not quite so green. We were now silly soph- omores, and when I say silly, that's exactly what I mean. Of course we couldn't be taught anything more, but again we found out differently. We had our same teachers back, all except Miss Combs, and in her place as principal we had Mr. Baker. As sophomores we didn't lead such eventful 1ives..We had given up our throne to a group of the greenest fresh-
