A. Han- na at the beginning of the school term. With the Vinton Lions quality already set, Mr. Hanna had the task of integrating all of these factors in an attempt to surpass the last years ex- tensive achievements, which encompass all areas. Calling for the aid of all the Lions Mr. Hanna worked closely with faculty members and student body to assure another success- ful year. All facets of school life were in some way consid- ered by our principal, a man whose importance at Vinton is unquestionable. Working under Mr. Hanna was his faculty, the best in the state, we believe. Together, they made Vin- ton High the greatest in the state. ■ v ,rv. 2 Features 115 , tH • .UN t'ar't Ray Say : May • « •«' Ovr Ml I'atUn CLRCTRIC GUITAR M 'wObHUKi nawa «£, , | O' • V a BfiLl'i a' 0 «'••«•o . ran. vpm,| — emffr I'M- UJ LOVELI I'M -a , W( ' lHfcl, l ___r r 1 — taa 04 La POR MNT r 3«o.. • OWH mo f Iv v SiON aa m m- aa nawty tw.tAad ;-J DECKERS Butane Is .- SOS HIWA 17 1(60611 H’ UM witr oiamoc i ii. oaao Uf St' Uki«d «Tt i Hr ra- • TUBNITUBI Ii HOIO COS REPOSSESSED I IW ' -Tr nbarlv nba dA MU mow mi. two Dcit 3 aoc mo'iraata mot tun % .. Mrs. Violet Breed teaches all English IV and even has time left over to teach French I. Mr. Ray Morgan is our chemistry, physics, and general science instructor. He even some- times serves as chaplain to the faculty. Miss Shirley Kaufm an is assistant librarian, and a helpful friend to all the students. She also serves as hall police woman at the lockers. When it comes to frogs, snakes, and insects, he lays the knowledge on us. Mr. John White is our Algebra and science teacher between his hunting and fishing trips. 13 Miss Mel Moreau is our girls Phy-Ed Instructor. She is also our Lionette spon- sor. Mr. Guillory always gives us the leading F.F.A. chapter in the state. Mrs. Mary Dunn instructs the girls in the many skills of Home Economics. 14 1 Coach Maurice Mueschke teaches Geometry and Al- gebra I. His talent is used as our assistant football coach and head basketball coach. Coach Robert Lewis teaches World Geography, Civics, and boys P.E. Mr. Lewis is our assistant football and head track coach. Mrs. Judy Langley teaches English I, II, and III. Her demanding voice keeps the Freshmen on the straight and narrow. Mrs. G. His death placed him in the company of the dead. His life placed him in the company of a far more selectgroup. Warren Holland Breaux had one great talent. He was merely good. His goodness requires our respect and the loss of that goodness justifies this memorial. Further mourning might minimize our great loss. Warren Breaux has made his memorial with Vinton High School and his friends. Enough to say that we have lost a friend and I feel that loss. Enough is said to indicate love and respect and say goodbye. FRATER, AVE ATQUE VALE Brother, hail and fairwell. 19 CLASS OFFICERS SEATED: President, Buddy Van Metre. For many of us finally the end has al- most come. There were times during the year when assignments were due. Test days had arrived and were unstudied for. Books often went unread, mornings spent in agony of trying to wake from the hours unslept and days of routine and then the end of school seemed a century away. Yet now it is almost here, all the agonies seem less and the memories of V. H. S. games (going to state) pep rallies, parties, and wonderful, wonderful friends are prom- inent in our thoughts. For many Seniors the year of 69-70 has special meaning. Somehow many of us do not realize the importance and attachment we acquire for things until we are about to lose them. I, especially feel a certain emptiness now that all hectic deadlines are met, all the pictures turned in and all the copy written. I am thankful to all my staff members for their hard work, especially to Mrs. Hag- gard, our school secretary, who we worried each and every day, yet she was always there with our money figures and any help we needed. Mr. Walter W. Miller, advisor, friend and often fellow sufferer was most important in the production of this book. To him I am truly grateful and forever indebted for making me a more disciplined student and more perceptive person. Thank you. Many, many fine people were essential in producing a FIRST CLASS SOUVENIR, and making my last year at V.H.S. one of the best ever, truly first in greatness, first in class.
