To our principal, sponsors, teachers, to the students of V.H.S., our parents and friends, we extend our heartfelt thanks for making this annual a reality. The pathways through high school are memorable ones. We, the annual staff, are proud to pre- sent to you our finished pride and joy - the 1964 Souvenir in which we have portrayed a span of these pathways to the future upon which each of us travels. We have tried to select some of the bright spots that stand out in our minds as important events in the history of Vinton High. We hope that this an- nual will become one of your most prized possessions and that you may look back over the faded snapshots and remember the good old days at V.H.S. Last but not least, this record of events would not be complete if we failed to mention the sadness of hearts of our school and of a great nation that was brought on by the assassination of our 36th Pres- ident, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, on November 22, 1963. In the memory of this great leader, let us keep in mind throughout the rest of our life, his famous quotation taken from his inaugural address on January 20, 1961 - ASK NOT WHAT YOUR COUNTRY CAN DO FOR YOU, BUT WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR COUNTRY. Marla Valentine Janell Marcantel EDITORS PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE 1963-64 This school year has been a very pleasant one and you are all to be congratulated on the fine spirit exhibited in all school activities. It is only through cooperation - on the part of all concerned - that we can attain the objectives toward which every school strives. With the continued spirit of cooperation and understanding hereto- fore exhibited by the faculty, students, and community our school should become one of the best. My congratulations to the sponsors and staff - for a job well done. CALCASIEU PARISH SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER VINTON HIGH . . .
