Text from Pages 1 - 92 of the 1954 volume:

ALMA MATER Alma Mater, beloved Vinton High, King of old, one that’s always bold. With pride and joy we treasure afar. The great school that you are. To your majestic red brick buildings Halls of pride and fame. We will always bow forever Salute your honored name. Praise to our glorified Alma Mater, Your ideals supreme We will always follow. Loyalty, dignity we'U keep on high, Your sweet memories hold e'er nigh. When, in 1923, she began teaching in Vinton, she had already taught for fifteen years at other schools. For thirty years, she taught the primary grades at Vinton. During those thirty years, she missed only eleven days of school. When she resigned in 1953, she refused to accept any special recognition for her long service and brilliant record. Mrs. Hiter started many young citizens on the most important years of their lives, their school days. We, and hundreds of oth- ers, appreciate and love her more than she will ever realize. We, your Staff, dedicate this seventh volume of the SOUVENIR to Mrs. Angie Hi- ter. MISS IRMA SPDLLMON MISS MARY MARICELLI MRS. JULIA WHITWORTH MR. PAUL BREAUX MRS. This book will always serve as a happy reminder of the golden days spent on this campus. In behalf of the Vinton School, I wish to thank the editor, the staff, faculty advisors, and the senior class of 1954 for the untiring efforts you have put forth in compiling this most treasured book.
