OLLEYING IKINGS he sophomore volleyball team had an extremely suc- cessful season this year. The team battled their way to a perfect district record of 11-O. Coach Debbie King says the key to the season was 13 talented ath- eletes who got along well with each other. Coach King went on to say that this was the best and her favorite team that she's ever coached. Teamwork and dedica- tion were attributes that helped this team excel. RUNNING TO DISTRICTS he '86-'87 freshman track team had an admittedly me- diocre season. The Viking thinclads struggled through the season and into the district meet. Eyebrows were raised, though, when Vines ran away with a sur- prising second place finish, beat- ing out a tough Sherman high school team for the second spot. Although the Vikings struggled at first, they ended the season with a running success! 79

Turner, a team that had beaten them earlier in the season. The score in that cham piohship game was 15-10, 15-10. Spirited by their excel- lent leader, Coach Lynch, the B-Team also won a city championship. Coach Lynch stated, Our reason for suc- cess was that we were strong at set and spike. The frosh wehe strong everywhere. Their future looks bright, as the past has been. Their cooperation and hard work led them to the top.
