LEADERS OF THE PACK STUDE T COUNCIL he ballot box was full, and the high point of the election began. The votes were counted, and the sixty- five lucky names of students were an- nounced. Happiness filled the air when the new student council members heard their new special honor. Officers included Chrissy Emerson, Kelly Lambert, Kathy Campbell, Amy Jewett, Susan Chapman, .Ienneane Watson, and Kristin King. With the help of sponsor Janice Dreyer, the stu- dent council led many original activities. One of many was spirit week. Each day of that week, students wore out- fits to show their Viking spirit. The events included were sweats day, col- lege t-shirt day, sophs wear red, frosh wear blue day, spirit day, and jams day. Another activity was safe- ty week during which students were given safety tips each day. Other events were the door decoration con- test, a dance, button making week, top ten turkeys, and teacher appre- ciation. Our leaders of the packl' participated in the state convention, Plano Senior High School student council workshop, and a district con- vention this year. Student council members are active in many areas of our curriculum. Therefore, the Vi- kings consider student council as a boost to the Vines purple pride. , N.. K N 'fjw-Q, by .. ,wif - -. Honor Society SUCCESSFUL SERVICE ith the start of school. new teach- ers and grades, the Vines chapter of the Na- tional Honor Society began the tedious tasks of recruit- ing new members, counting service points and attempt- ing to get organized. The Honor Society started its year off by holding a few summer meetings to get the ball rolling and to meet the officers - President Ann- Marie Chard, Secretary Christina Kim and Treasur- er Melissa Prymak. After the start of school, the frosh Vice Presidents were elect- ed - from Wilson, Diane Galvan and from Haggard, Jan Harrison. The N.H.S. had many committees that kept the entire organization hopping all year. Fundrais- ing started the 1986-87 school year off by having a bake sale in mid-October to initiate funds for the induc- tion, which was held Octo- ber 19th at the Harvey Ho- tel. Over Thanksgiving, the N.H.S. visited the residents of Heritage Park Nursing Home. During the Christ- mas season, they helped with the annual P.U.S.H. CPeople United to Serve Humanityj can and clothes drive. In April, the 1987-88 sophomore members were selected. To close the year, the N.H.S. worked extra hard to put together the an- nual awards assembly. With much help and support from sponsor Lynde Walkup, this year was a great success. 1-Ra ,gf Eric Scott, Larry Roach, Chris Hutchison, Scott McConnell, Jennifer McComic, Kelly Lambert, Elgin Kim, Tanya Schwoch, Laura Dawson, Kelli Garth, Mike King, Kara Dawson, Wendi Whitehead, Gary Mooring, John Bogle, Lee Reed, Wendy Walton, Kendra Fischer, Lisa Perry, Stephanie McDowell, Ann Park, Marshall Miles, Mike Johnson, Steve Fuller, Michael Maurer, Kelly Baum, Emily Bierle, Jill Callahan, Jennifer Benton, Lisa Kenney, Melissa Christianson, Lynda Mitchell, Anne-Marie Chard, Chrissy Emerson, Amanda Lindley, Melody Meyer, Irene Campbell, Karen Van Ness, Kelly Allison, Melissa Prynak, Laura Jackson, Irma Goyal, Stephanie Blackwood, Dawn Schlapfer, Angela McCaskill, Joron Hulett, Cindy VanDermeer, Christina Kim, Jennifer Peiffer, Angela Martin. 62 I- . ...,, NQ4. s -5 Christina Kim sneaks a bit to eat at the NHS bake sale.
