FHA OUR DOMESTIC FUTURE he Future Homemakers of America certainly had a sumptuous year. Led by Home Economics teachers Pat Keene and Lavisa Upton, the group participated in many activities. They met often and worked hard to raise funds and assist those who needed them. Several field trips were planned to help teachers at day care and preschool programs, to Outreach to Senior Citizens, and to Youth Against Cancer, for example. There were also several meetings involving other groups - the Region III meeting in Oklahoma City, the leadership meeting in Tyler, the state get-together in San Antonio, and the national meeting in Washing- ton, D.C. Vines F.H.A. also sent a representative to Orlando, Florida to a national convention. Overall, the members worked hard, but they learned much from their experiences! LEADERS OF THE PACK STUDE T COUNCIL he ballot box was full, and the high point of the election began. The votes were counted, and the sixty- five lucky names of students were an- nounced. Happiness filled the air when the new student council members heard their new special honor. Officers included Chrissy Emerson, Kelly Lambert, Kathy Campbell, Amy Jewett, Susan Chapman, .Ienneane Watson, and Kristin King. With the help of sponsor Janice Dreyer, the stu- dent council led many original activities. One of many was spirit week. Each day of that week, students wore out- fits to show their Viking spirit. The events included were sweats day, col- lege t-shirt day, sophs wear red, frosh wear blue day, spirit day, and jams day. Another activity was safe- ty week during which students were given safety tips each day. Other events were the door decoration con- test, a dance, button making week, top ten turkeys, and teacher appre- ciation. Our leaders of the packl' participated in the state convention, Plano Senior High School student council workshop, and a district con- vention this year. Student council members are active in many areas of our curriculum. Therefore, the Vi- kings consider student council as a boost to the Vines purple pride. , N.. K N 'fjw-Q, by .. ,wif - -.
