Mrs. Wimberly patiently leads the class. ' il Ht 1 OUR CHGRUS LI E he 1986-87 Vines choirs were met with a smashing success this year. The three choirs - Chamber, Show, and Mixed - hosted in all-state choir workshop last July, starting the year on posi- tive note. In October, tryouts for the high school All-Region choir were held. Even after competing against juniors and seniors, both Robert Al- dridge and Scott Markowitz made the choir. The chorus sang selections from The Messiah in a cluster concert with the Piano Senior High choir and those of various feeder schools. The Annual Vines winter concert was held in December and was a great success. In February, the W4 if-W' ,, fi, Q .' - Hurt ninth and tenth grade All-Region choir tryouts were held. The viking choir also assisted the drama depart- ment with this year's musical. Our choir gave a fine performance at U.I.L. contest in April and Vine's own Viking Review came off well. This year's Review theme was Who Wrote The Book of Love? and popular selections from several musical eras were performed. The choir members traveled to Austin in May to participate in the River City Choral Festival. These students really have good potential, director Mrs. Wimberly commented. 1986- 87 was certainly a very profitable year for the Vines chorus line. Ai . 5 , 5 ii rf' ' .i - . Say Ah! re is 42 DRAMA - CLASS ACT ights! Camera! Action! Those words are heard often in any perform- ing group, and the Vines drama club is no exception. The club kicked off 1986-87 with the November presen- tation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, a light- hearted, fun-filled adven- ture for all ages. All perfor- mances, including a One-act play and a well-done musi- cal, lived up to the Viking traditions of superb direct- ing, casting, acting, costum- ing, and set design. The drama department hung together under the di- rection of Carla Ford. She and her loyal students stayed after school, met on weekends, and worked long hours day in and day out, perfecting and polishing their acting skills. The busy, determined, and talented members of the Vines dra- ma club came out on top. Monica Profaizer and Laurie Kline practice looking up at the spotlight.
