STYLE ifferent people express themselves in many different ways, whether it's a shaved head Qor partly shaved heady, pink shoes, flourescent mascara or just a plain T-shirt. Style is a very important part of one's image. Here at Vines, there are many different groups with which many different images are associated. So- ciety gives different names to groups who have stuck around. For instance, in the fifties they were called beatniksg in the sixties and seventies, they were called hippies, and now they are known as the freaks. Their dress includes a rock T-shirt, jeans, long hair and possibly an earring. Another group of sharp dressers are often called new wav- ers. Expression in this group might consist of anything from pink converse to far-out hair styles. Then, there's the ordinary student .... the one who does not feel that anything outra- geous is necessary for hisfher image. Whatever the case, the style is definitely a part of Vines High School. HOMEWORK?! xcuse me, Mark, where's your home- work? My homework, ahhh I thought that was due tomorrow. After being at Vines for only one week, you'll have heard your share of excuses. Whether it's about homework, library books or anything else, somebody will find a good excuse to cover himself. From the opening of Vines, there have been some excuses that still hold their place. The more familiar ones include, My dog ate it, My locker stuck, and, of course I left it in my other folder. Of course, there's been some new editions to this seemingly endless supply of excuses. For instance: A tornado came and swept up my homework, or I left it on my kitchen table. Being late calls for many different excuses. For example, My watch stopped, My locker is stuck , or I got lost are prime examples of excuses used by students for lost homework. Whatever the case, a student can always find an ex- cuse to get out of anything. What do you mean Il I5 due today7 Chris Taylor questions Todd Navely searches earnestly for his lost homework.
