l l L i l l l l i l l i l i Glenn Strain - Assistant Principal Paul Moore - Dean of Students i l ADMINISTRATION RULES ride is a wonderful, terrible thing, or so says James Hurst in his famous short story The Scarlet lbis . All pride must spring from a source, and here the sources are! Yes, our wonderful adminis- trators are here once again, bringing with them a plethora of questions. To top them off, which one of them is which? A burning question in everybody's mind, that one is. To begin with, the tall, dark-haired man that dresses like Al Capone is none other than our beloved, far from untouchable principal Mr. Doyle Walker. Mr. Moore is that caring gentleman who was always there for your stuck lockers and in-schools. Mr. Strain is the tall, blonde-haired assistant principal who looks vaguely like a star quarterback. Then there is Mr. Smith, the smallest in stature but not in warmth and compassion. Another question you may be asking yourself is What keeps these men coming back year after year? It took a little research to find the answer to this burning question. Although pride can drive a man to ruin, our principals have been able to turn their pride to constructive uses. They not only have pride in them- selves but in their school also. Besides the pride that is present within the student body, the pride runs rampid in our faculty, as all of our administrators will agree. But pride is meaningless without examples of it actually ac- complishing something - and accomplish something our pride does. This year the TEAMS test was taken by all of the freshmen in the state. Our freshmen averaged above the 95th percent. This is quite an accomplishment. An- other prime example of this pride could be our outstand- ing showing at any sort of competition. Be it speech, band, choir or athletics, all of our administrators take pride in the Vines traditon of winning. But where and when do these men feel proud? lt is with them always, and it makes Vines what it is and them who they are. i 155
