THANKS FOR THE IVIEIVIGRIES Remember these faces? They've drilled you, yelled at you, hounded you, praised you, annoyed you, teased you, and all but killed you. For one reason or another, be it wonderful, ridiculous, or a totally disas- terous, you'll never forget some of them. Remember that day when nothing went right at all? You sat in English class last hour, sulking and feel- ing sorry for yourself, and your teacher caught you not paying attention. Later she came over and asked Bcirboro Shivers Cormelito Sims Lindo Smith i f . . sels Pom Spring Dione Stonley Suson Thompson you what was wrong. Part of you wanted to scream at her for butting into your business, but another part was glad that somebody recognized what a lousy day you were having! Remember the librar- ians? Only because of that day you were walking through the library with Su- sie and Billy Bob and decid- ed to have a seat on the table. There was that voice- Please don't sit on the tabIe! You hopped down, just a little embarrassed. Well, we never need to wor- ry about the welfare of the library's tables. Remember the ser- geants-at-arms of the cafe- teria? You may think that the administrators have it easy, just spending their days standing around the cafeteria, doing announce- ments and pushing pencils. You forget the unseen parts of the job - the pronunci- ation of all those names, for instance. lf Mr. Whoever messes up over the P.A., the entire world hears it. Then there were the faculty meetings - those long, end- less, early-morning faculty meetings. Then there were the times when they had to pinch-hit for another staff member. On the first of May QMayday! Maydaylj Mr. Walker got to play nurse. He was quickly accosted by two students from fourth hour art, both of whom had just chiseled their fingers. Messy, messy! That must have been quite a job for the maintenance man! Remember standing in line to get an excuse for an absence? Didn't you won- der if Mrs. Witcher got tired of signing her name all day? She and the other secre- taries had to deal with ei eryone in the building, fror the freshman who couldn get his locker open to th substitute teacher who wa always running late. How' you like that job? Remember our friendl neighborhood counselors With all our teenage prot lems to deal with, I wouldnt want that job. They've see us atour worst, either cry ing our eyes out, sulkin stubbornly, or ready to tee our hair out or theirs. The must have a million storie they could tell! Remember, lastly, all th teachers at Vines? We e ther loved them or woul have welcomed a chance 1 kill them. We wondered jus how they always seemed t be in the wrong place at th wrong time - for us, any way! They always seeme to show up in the hall fn one time the defenseles student didn't have a ha pass. Of course, there wa also the time when yot math semester grade wa 89.25, and you bit yot nails for a week wonderin if she would give you th ninety. That way you coul tell your parents, Yeah, got an A in math! Whe you finally got the repo: card and there was the beautiful ninety, you swor you'd love your mat teacher forever - at leas until problem number fi' teen on the next test. Well, it was quite a yea! folks. You may ask, Wh do these people work wit us people? Don't ask me I have no idea. Anyway they do - and we'll neve forget them, for whateve the reason. As Bob Hop would say, thanks for th memories.
