ALL OF THIS- AND SMARTS , TOO l he Honor Society recognizes Vines students who qualify on the merits of scholarship, ser- vices, and leadership into the society. lt serves us and the community in a variety of ongoing projects. They collected pet food coupons to aide the Humane Society. They also did the annual Christmas canned food drive for the Plano PUSH project. On Halloween they dressed up in costumes and went to Heritage Manner to entertain the senior citizens. There was approximately seventy sophomore students in Honor Society. There are about a hundred and seventy Fresh- man. General meetings are called as needed, and the executive board meets weekly on Monday mornings to discuss the upcoming events. Student Council pirit Week . . . New- comer's Ice Cream party Top Ten Turkeys Save the Child ... Secret Pals ... all points lead to a very busy Vines Student Coun- cil. The 1985-86 Student Council had another ful- filling year. The Student Council began the year by sponsoring the Thanksgiving Dance. Mrs. Dreyer sponsored the club once again. She was busy all year planning and organizing special club ac- tivities. The club spon- sored a child in the Save A Child program. Stu- dent Council hosted the canned goods and toy drive to help the needy of Dallas. At the beginning of the year the Student Council distributed sched- ules and made l.D. cards. The Newcomer's Ice Cream party and Spirit Week were also spon- sored by the Student Council. The organization made a visit to the Nurs- ing Home over the Holi- days and delivered wreaths that were used in the Door Decorating Con- test, also sponsored by the Student Council. Un- der the guidance of this year's officers, the Stu- dent Council did more this year than ever be- fore. We all gained much experience in working with the students and fac- ulty, but all the work was definitely worth it, quoted Vice-President David Procyk.
