GETTING INTO THE ACT Michael Mauer wishes Chris Taylor would leave him alone so he could pay attention to the meeting. ights! Action! These words were frequently heard in the Vines Theatre Department this year. Four productions were staged at various times during the year starting with Winnie the Pooh . Pooh , a light-hearted, fun-filled produc- tion for all ages, was presented during October at Vines. The cast, starring Greg Wilson and Alan Tu- dyk, toured local elementary schools also. The sec- ond production, Agatha Christie's A Murder ls An- nounced , thrilled mystery lovers while the musical extravaganza Oklahoma tested the musical prow- ess of drama members. All presentations were true to the Vines Drama Department tradition of superior directing, casting, acting, costuming and set decora- tion. A one-act play was produced for competition in the spring of the year. Forty-five drama students also participated in the department's club, The Black Tie Players. These members held the costume social in October as well as selling concessions at Clark Stadium in November. The Black Tie Players promoted Theatre in their own school as well as out while involving themselves in community service projects. The Drama Department, a family within a family of Vines, was under the direction of Carla Ford. She and her students worked overtime, after school and on weekends, to entertain large audiences with su- perb productions throughout the year while uphold- ing their own tradition of bringing home the trophies from competition. Busy, determined and most of all talented, the Vines Drama Department became known as the prelude to Broadway .
