Dressed in purple and whiTe, They came bringing The gifT of music. They called Themselves The Vines Band. As mysTerious as These people may have appeared, They were acTually a group of ordinary 9Th and TOTh grade Vines sTudenTs. The 1983-1984 Vines Band was under The direcTion of Jerry Finnell and Fred Velez wiTh Flag Corps insTrucTor, Robin Ross. The band's quesT To bring The gifT of music began in The deep heaT of summer and conTinued ThroughouT The school year afTer school. AfTer many hours of pracTice, The firsT performance neared. ExciTemenT was building only To be desTroyedr when H was discovered ThaT Vine's firsT home game had become a non- home game in Sherman. However, Two weeks IaTer The big momenT came.
