Ifs Work, But Ifs Worth It. The Odyssey staff set their minds thinking of a theme for the 1979-80 yearbook which would please all. They started this brain storming in the summer when they attended a summer journal- ism workshop at S.M.U. The classes were taught by profes- sional artists who were a great help in finding fresh ideas. The theme of the book is yearly pro- gression expressed by traffic sym- 4 ,A A ' ,wiywr-tv Lu The 1979-80 Yearbook Staff hols. We started the year with a green light. meeting new faces and seeing new places. Toward the end of the book the red light symbolizes the end of another year but sets the scene for yet , to Kim Mciver starts dreadin' those darkroom minutes in Yearbook. The Vines Vikings Baseball team had a comeback season. The first half of the season the Vikings fell behind with a record of seven losses and zero wins, They finished the second half of the season with four wins and two losses. Coach Carroll and Coach Walker worked every day with the team to help them progress through the Baseball season. The Vines team had four successful pitchers. Steve Terrell helped the team win two games. while .limmy Wehmeier and Ty Hoff- man pulled out one game each. Billy .lordan was the leading bat- ter of the team with an average of 340. Kurt Williams was second with an average of 333. The team consisted of thirteen sophomore players and six freshmen. Although the Viking Baseball score record wasn't anything to speak of. the boys gave it a great try. They worked really hard and to actually see the game was a dif- ferent story from what the scores did say. The Vines Baseball team played Plano Senior High School Junior Varsity and put up a big fight. They only lost by one point. Steve Adel' walclres, waits, and wonders when the ball is going ro come.
