Student Council has spread spirit throughout Vines this year. Student Council along with the Cheerleaders, sponsored Spirit Week during Oct. 29th through Nov. Znd. This helped to promote school pride and added spirit to that week's game. The week was followed by a Harvest Dance, given by the council. During March 17-21, the council, along with the Honor Society, spon- sored Purple Pride Week. To begin the year the council greeted each teacher with a car- nation. But, this wasn't the begin- ning of the Student Council year. Earlier in July. Jeff Sigman, Mark Hood, and Mrs. Griffin attended a Student Council Workshop at Stephen F. Austin University. Five delegates went to Austin for .au-I Thor takes the bore out of Council Poor Thor he is no more, the mascot. Throughout the year. the coun- cil was busy selling sing-a-grams. suckers, and candy bars. To sum up the year the council attended a banquet given in their honor at Vines. To introduce the future Junior class, the councils from Clark, Williams, and Vines. sponsored a formal dance for all sophomores. Teresa gives her weekly report. The Vines Chapter of the al Junior Honor Society is group of individuals who strive or high set personal and aca- goals. The requirements this club are a 92 grade aver- ge, good citizenship and an of 12 service points quarter. To receive these points, variousjobs must done. Grading papers, selling candy during fund raisers, work- ing in the school store, and tutor- ing are a few of the things done to earn these points. This group, sponsored by Ms. Clifton and Ms. Walkup, organ- ized many projects this year. The most satisfying and heart warm- ing of these was the adoption of an elderly woman at Christmas time. The Honor Society did ht Tracy Newman, Heave H 0. . ' 7 H' 2 R s gxfl 1 'nf T ff, W 3 Stacey Fix, hot and tired numerous projects for Purple Pride Week. A dance, with the theme of Purple Paradise, was an activity given for the students. Also during this time the Honor Society donated a video tape machine to the school. These pro- jects were only a few taken on by the Honor Society this year. The Honor Society is a club we at Vines are proud of. 9th grade Ms. Walkup, pointing I0 the star of success.
