The 10th grade boys basketball team, coached by John Walker, ended the year with a season record of I2-14. They played in the South Garland tournament and won 3rd place. In the first round they beat W. T. White. They lost to North Garland in the second round, and in the third round they beat Lewisville. Rod Steging was the team leader by averaging 15.4 points per game, 8 rebounds, and a 5823 free throw average. Todd Palmer came in second averaging 9.5 points per game, 7.7 rebounds, and a 43'fZ3 free throw average. Greg Griffin was third in the statistics averag- ing 8.7 points per game, 3.6 rebounds and a 6076 free throw average. Joe Durrett followed him with a point average of 5.7, 3.9 rebounds, and a 42'Zi free throw average. is Q 'gi This year the l0th grade girls team, coached by Miss had an outstanding sea- with a record of 22-2. Their losses were to Bishop Lynch, overtime, with the score Vines and Bishop Lynch 55, and to Oak Cliff with a score of 34. They also played in 2 tour- nts this year. The first one was the Plano J.V. tournament in which they captured lst place. In the first round Vines beat Lake Highlands 59-35, but they just edged by R. L. Turner with a score of 39-34 in the second round. Vines out-played J. J. Pearce in the third round 51-33. MacArthur J.V. tournament was the second tournament in which Barbara Begeman doesn 't take basketball bring down. .NN X C. they also won a lst place trophy. In the first round Vines upset Grand Prairie 46-26. They out- shot Arlington in the second round 47-25. and in the third round Vines bounced MacArthur 45-21.
