fyruun the jjil i off Candid. FOREWORD Time is relative. If we could measure time by the happiness we've had, by the new ex- periences, by the friends we've made—then the four years that we have spent in high school would weigh heavily on the scales of time. At first, all our memories were bright and clear like photos in the album of our mind; but then, as years went by, they faded and grew dim. Faces and places once familiar became en- veloped in the fog of time. It is our hope that the RECORD will bring back those memories whenever you open its pages in the future. We all know that ''time marches on,'' but we some- times like to forget about time. In the scenes pictured here, your friends will remain eternally young. People change, you say — yes, though not very much. The habits, manner- isms, and character traits that we develop in school stay with us. It is hard to change a negative if the picture was taken incorrectly. So it is with us—we too are hard to change. The basic ideas and ways of thinking that we acquire in our youth remain with us. When we take a picture, we sometimes find that it takes a great amount of focusing to find the truly significant object. Now, it is more im- portant than ever before that we have a set of true values that cannot be shaken by the things that may come. We must all take time to think about what we want our life to hold. The time has come for us to develop from a mere negative into a finished print—from teen- ager into adult. Having learned that knowl- edge is worth nothing unless it is used for the good of everyone, we now venture forth to take our place in the world.
