PREFER SCHOOL UNIFORMS TO IMMODEST DRESSES Vincentian Students Forego Formals at Junior Prom in Protest Against Current Styles in Evening Attire Setting the style for teen-age social events. 123 girls, junior students at Yinccntian Institute, wore their school uniforms to the gala .lunior Prom on December 28. The students' move was a protest against the extremes in evening dresses that border on the immodest and style trends that affront Christian decency. The Vincentian girls, challenge was a valiant assent to the Holy Father's insistence for a return to Christian standards, and a fearless affirmation of every good woman's conviction that modesty and modishness complement one another. The Most Reverend Edmund F. Gibbons, D.D., Bishop of Albany, commenting on the decision of the junior class at YJ., said: The courage of these young women is admirable. This is the most effective action in many years against the increasing evil trend of immodest dress. If all our young people would join in such a forthright movement, and it is my earnest wish that they should, the forces that are attempting to deprive womanhood of its true beauty and charm would quickly be rooted.
