Six hundred ten excited Trailblazers filled the Wabash River at Kimmell Park to begin the 1986-87 year with the annual Tube Race. Teams consisting of five men and five women participated in one of the biggest races recorded at VU. ALMOST ANYTHING GOES i Almost Anything Goes, sponsored by the Greek Council, was held at the intramural field. Four teams composed of ten members competed in five events: The Toilet Paper Wrap, Headsche, Fill the Bottle, Sack Race and Tug of War. During the Octoberfest dance, the winners of Almost Anything Goes were presented trophies by Dr. Summers: a First Place: Sigma Nu and Sigma Phi Epsilon. Second Place: Hotel-Motel Association. Third Place: Bser’s The first Octoberfest was held in Tecumseh Park from 8 p.m. until 11 p.m. Randy Shafer, news director for WAOV, tethered his hot air balloon, and gave free rides to those who were brave enough to go up.
