Message From The President 1985-1986 Academic Year Dear Students and Campus People: The 1985-1986 yearbook is a chronicle of the major events of the academic year. This book includes pictures of events which thousands of students will remember. Campus life is reflected in the pictures of classes, laboratories, and the many student activities and fun things which occurred. It is often stated that those who give the most receive the most. The VU yearbook is an attempt to provide a pictorial history of the activities which were important at VU in 1985-1986. Those students’ pictures who have participated or given to the various clubs, organizations, performing groups, and athletic teams can be seen. The value of the yearbook is that it provides a collection of memories for all students, and shows the spirit of campus life. This yearbook has pictures of the campus development which has occurred and the highlights of the academic year’s events. I hope the readers of the yearbook will find pictures of the activities which they have enjoyed, and that good memories will result. | appreciate the dedicated work of the yearbook staff, and hope everyone enjoys their “walk down memory lane” as they view the pictures of the 1985-1986 campus events. The Hospitality Management Association was founded in 1984 to help students gain a better understanding of the professional and practical requirements of the Hospitality Industry. During the 1985-86 year, H.M.A., for short, was one of the most active clubs at Vincennes University. Jeff Kies is the club’s Advisor and officers of the year were: Shawn Niblick, president; Randy Baird, vice-president; Basil Vasilarakos, treasurer; Marisa Chamness, secretary; Terri Schick, banquet and catering manager; and Chris Cooley, campus club manager. H.M.A. during the school year operates a snack bar and a full service banquet and catering operation where the students donate their time. The H.M.A. has served over a thousand guests. In exchange for the hands-on experience, the H.M.A. tries to extend the VU motto “learn in order to serve.” This year in addition to our normal operations, H.M.A. participated in the tube race, Homecoming parade, received the best construction trophy, had fun in Almost Anything Goes, helped with banquets for V.U.’s special guests, colored eggs for the Easter egg hunt, donated time to “Blaze a clean Blazer Trail” on “Mom Carter’s Day,” as well as various car washes and H.M.A. trips to the state conventions. We were also educated by area experts in the hospitality industry during our bimonthly meetings. The president hopes that the students enjoyed _the year, and that the H.M.A. becomes one of the most outstanding Hospitality Associations in the nation’s junior colleges. 18 LAMBDA ALPHA EPSILON (Law Enforcement) FRONT ROW: Bret Patton, Activity Director; Charles Sorrells, Secretary; John Karris, Sgt. of Arms; Rod Clear, President; Melissa Davidson, Vice President; Chris Leroux, Treasurer; Jim Preuett, Dan Burgei SECOND ROW: Jerry Brown, Shawn Brown, Bill White, Will Brock, Ted Tompkins, Ron Gholson, Kevin Morgan THIRD ROW: Scott Berkley, Darlene Davis, Tim Toborf, Allen Clark, Tobe Leazenby, Chris King, Barry VanCamp FOURTH ROW: David Johnson, Diane Davidson, Eddie Gammon, Scott Akers, Tim Piazza, Brian Kaser, Greg Kinslow, Mark Harris, Anthony Mann, David Hardin FIFTH ROW: Mike Sanders, Aubrey Jones, Tom Madden, Lincoln Brooks, Tom Westfall, James Dixon, Jim Hensey, Alan Virden, Gregg Taylor, Terry Chanley ALPHA EPSILON RHO (Broadcasting) FIRST ROW: Jim Carter, Treasurer; Mike Huber, Vice-President; Lenord Clark, President; Stacy Wills, Secretary; Pam Gray, Advisor SECOND ROW: Rob Hall, Merit Maloney, Sean Duncan, Brett Wynn, Dave Mock, Terri Chambers, Janet Pund THIRD ROW: Tony Felling, Rick Breusier, Ken Booth, Andrew Jackson, Mark Welbieser, Tim Holt, Thad Linton NOT PICTURED: Maureen Matlingly, Bill Baruay MU ALPHA THETA (Mathematics) NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL JUNIOR COLLEGE MATHEMATICS FIRST ROW: Shannon Riegle, Debra McAdams, Mary Potts SECOND ROW: Tayfun Ozbak, Brian Ashley, Stephen Kirkman CHI ALPHA DELTA (Art) % 2 ti rte ee ey cS . WINNERS: Men’s Division: Sigma Nu Women’s Division: Alpha Theta Chi “THE AMAZING KRESKIN’”’ In March, Vincennes University welcomed, “The Amazing Kreskin” to its campus for an evening of mind-twisting entertainment. This is “Kreskins” second appearence at V.U. and was even better the second time around. “Kreskin” is a “Mentalist,” not a “Medium,” or a “Mind Reader” and relies on the understanding and cooperation of his subjects. “Kreskin” has appeared in over five hundred television programs and 88 were on the “Tonight Show”. Again this year, his check was hidden somewhere and again he found it. A great evening was enjoyed by all who attended. 67 68 FALL MUSICAL Vincennes University Music and Theatre Department Presents ‘““THE MIKADO”’ | THE MIKADO OF JAPAN @ ae Andrew Dale} a NANKEPOOt= eee Sam Pickell KO-K © Gee eee R.
