The VU Theatre production, The Knack was a comical approach to the boy meets girl Story. Colin, a man who is always fumbling his attempts to meet girls was portrayed by Robin Overby, freshman. Colin tries to learn the knack explained in the play as the intuitive ability to attract the opposite sex . The play takes place in Colin's Chicago house, where rooms are leased to Tolen, played by Tom Dowden, freshman, and Tom, played by Tom Stillabower, senior. Male Chauvinist Tolen advises Colen about seducing women. When Nancy, portrayed well by senior Debbie Brooks, appears at the window asking directions to the YWCA, Colin seizes the opportunity to practice what Tolen taught him. With good line deliveries and expressions by Stillabower, Tom's sanity is questionable, as he flings paint on the wall, hangs chairs from nails on the wall, and changes the subject of conversation in mid-sentence.
