I , , ., ....-,X . ,..1-' 1 Time out for a mother-daughter conversation. moms enjoy their weekend Beautiful weather helped to make Mom's Weekend a success on the VU campus this year. Activities began with a tea Friday afternoon for the mothers and their daughters and sons. The All-Campus Variety Show, presented on Friday night by the residence halls, sororities, and fraternities, was a salute to the mothers and tathers. Beta Xi received the first place trophy, while Clark Residence l-lall and Delta Gamma Iota placed second and third, respectively. Alpha Theta Chi received the Director's Trophy. Saturday's activities opened with a luncheon, and in the atter- noon the Freshman Class sponsored a lawn party. On Saturday evening, the Miss VU Pageant moved into a new home, the Beless Gym. Miss VU ot l97O, Sharon Young, was featured singing Fverything's Comin' Up Roses and i'Funny. Grady Nutt, a comedian, appeared between the swimsuit, talent, and evening gown competitions. Miss Penny Tichenor was named Miss Vincennes University ot l97l. Coleen Grittin was first runner-up, Pamela Talbott, second, Sherri Coons, third, and Diane Tharp, fourth. Pamela Talbott was also named the first Miss Congeniality of Vincennes University, The weekend activities closed with a brunch late Sunday morn- ing. Mom's Weekend of T971 was a huge success and was en- ioyed by the mothers as well as their sons and daughters. -.., . Q Q in 5 16 l
