IN APPRECIATION: A TRIBUTE TO MRS. MARIE MCQUAID This is just a note of thanks to a grand lady—Marie McQuaid. For seven years, from 1963 until Jim’s death in 1969, Mr. and Mrs. McQuaid served as faculty ad- visors to Le Revoir, in addition to being co-managers of the Old Post Book Store. Mrs. McQuaid continued to serve Le Revoir throughout the production of the 1970 edition. During her time with Le Revoir she met many people who will always remember her as the lady who was always there in the times of need as well as the times of joy. Even today she never fails to ask, ‘‘How’s the yearbook?”’ Shakespeare once said, ‘““Some are born to greatness, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them.” This reminds us of a story Mrs. Mc- Quaid is fond of telling. One night while they were at- tending a basketball game (Jim was always an avid Trailblazer fan), President Beckes turned to them and asked, ‘How would you two like to be sponsors of the yearbook?” Naturally, they quickly accepted. What they did not find out until later, however, was that in addi- tion to advising the 1964 yearbook, they would also have to undertake completion of the 1963 yearbook. Not only did they successfully complete this task, but they continued to supervise the production of many more editions.

WALECIs ON wnttts I Beta Xi wins the “Littlest 500” tricycle race. The ‘Littlest 500’ Bike racing, tricycle riding, and a pie-throwing contest were a few of the activities during V.U.’s “Littlest 500” Weekend. Students as well as alumni look forward to the weekend as a welcome event in the spring. Under a lowering sky which con- Stantly threatened to rain out the race, Men’s East Hall swept to first place, but was later disqualified on a technicality. Sigma Pi was awarded the top trophy. They need only one more victory to claim the traveling trophy. Beta Xi won the third annual Tricycle Race. The “Littlest 500’ Weekend climaxed spring and is one of the most event- ful weekends on campus. No time for resting. Fragile: Handle with care.
