pi The past two years under the energetic leadership of Dr. Isaac K. Beckes saw rapid strides at Vincennes University. The new Curtis G. Shake Library was dedicated in December, 1960, giving the University its first building devoted exclusively to library facilities. The largest addition to the new campus since it was occupied in 1953 was made when the Univer- Sity acquired the old Hack and Simon property, adjoining the previous holdings. Equipment for Vincennes University’s own television station was obtained and plans were pushed forward to put V.U. on the air. Plans for the University’s first dormitory were under development and Robert E. Green announced that he would build a new physical education building on the site of the present athletic field. On the academic side, the first class graduated from the Department of Nursing in the summer of 1960 and the members took their places in the profession. The spring of 1961 saw the first graduates from the new Department of Technology. |t was an- other two years of solid progress at V.U.
