JU IOR VARSITY BASKETB LL Guided by first-year Coach Bill Dennehy, the junior varsity basketball team compiled a 5-15 record. Although they lost several games, the Hawks managed to win some games with impressive scores. The first highlight of the season was the game against Haddam-Killingworth which Vinal won 53-36. Torey Marino and Ken Owens scored 13 points each, and Chuck Tyler scored 10. The game with Bolton was the most exciting game since each team had the lead throughout the game. Chuck Tyler scored the decisive point, enabling the Hawks to win 56-55. Another close game was the one against Cromwell in which Dave Bruzik was the top scorer with 23 points to his credit while Kent Pope scored 21 points. This game went into double overtime before Vinal won 68-64. Torey Marino, Ken Owens, and Bill Perry played on the var- sity team as well. Torey was the top scorer for the season since he scored 243 points. Chuck Tyler came in next with 155 points. 1 2 4 1. Chuck Tyler anticipates a pass. 2.
