Qlass lfhsiurg As we look back to a warm day on September l, 19140, we see just a few of the angelic little children who are still with us today Entering kindergarten we see Betty Ankeny, Janet Christensen, Charles Fisher, lhle Mains, Richard Marsh, Jeanne Harvick, JoAnn Marvick, Deloris Schroeder, Bob Scott, Kent Smith, and Gene Westerlund The highlight of this year was our very 'Jazzy' kinder-gr-ten lnnd consist- ing of cymbals, tamborines, triangles, and drums We also had a play house All of the kids brought something to furnish the house, but very few get their things back We had such a large class they to divide us into two sections One came in the morning and one in the afternoon Mrs Stinson was our teacher The first grade was not too historical, althoug we picked up knowledge by the bushel basket, and course lt ran right back out, just like water Our teacher was M1ssCax-penter Jimmy Wagaman will never be forgotten for the merry chase he led around our second grade room after taking Miss Meyer's keys W gained Judy Vernon this year We were now in the third grade, and our hapuy little throng was jo ned by Marge Wallace teacher was Mrs Gray This year we lost Betty Ankeny We had minded our 'p's and Djs that year, so the teachers got together and decided us into the fourth grads Here we were joined by Jan Strickland and Melvin fLlttle John! Oltnnnn Dick Marsh returned from Georgia Our instructor was Mrs Clark This year we presented the play, Rumple Stllt- skin Gene Westerlund fitted the title role perfectly On to the fifth grade We lost a few members this year They were Bill Mccreedy, John Veak, and Deloris Peterson Our lucky teacher was Miss Mercer, and, oh yes, that was the year Bob Rambo entered our class We were now kings of the grade school, because we were in the sixth grads It seems that several boys had their mouths taped shut by Miss Robinson because they were using the telephone in the library The naughty, naughty boys were Tom Stinson, Dick Marsh, Charles Fisher, and Gene Westerlund At last we were in the high school building Yes, at last we had made itl We were growing up, and had gone five blocks east, and were entering the Junior high We thought we were big shots, but soon we were taken down a few hatches by the eighth grade Newcomers were Mary Fast, Joan Fast, Janet Noble, and get a big bang this year Doane Hess, who ms visiting school after being in Germany a while, shot off a firecracker under the Junior high drinking fountain We haven't seen Duane since We were new ruling the Junior high Joining our class in the eighth grade were Lila Mlnge, Shirley Slerp, and at the semester, Arlene McCullough and Valjean Branan Additions later in the year were Darwin Linn and Marvin Carlson. The class party was a picnin in Clarinda Afterward we went skating All in all, we got through it, and there we were, ready for high school At last we were ln Senior High School We were Joins by Jaclq' Bensel, Bob Kensel, Bill Anderson, Vivian Cartwright, Dlsine Cooper, Mary Doll, Vary Lou Hedstrom, Marilyn Jackson, Sara Jo Lee, lhoml Mauderly, Gerlad Norcross, Richard Orton, Carolyn Wage, Baymond Klmpson, Cleo Fidler, Clark Crussell Bob Means, and Betty Brown We were hip salesmen for carnival tickets Joann Marvlck was carnival queen. Ve had a dance in the gm for our class party The class officers were President Sara Lee, Vice President Bill Anderson, Secretary Mary Lou Hedstrom, and Treasurer Kent Snith As Sophomores we were one step higher on our ladder of education W gained Ronald Clark and John Patterson from Arkansas and Lloyd Stille from Emerson. We had a dance for our party this year vnasn't a bad party, even thbllj. the chili was scorched Our officers were President Arlene McCullough Vice President Dick lhrsh Secretary Jan Strickland, and Treasurer Darwin Linn At last we had become upperclasmen To raise monev for he Junior-Senior banquet we sold magm- ines and Ind a stand at the armory for basketball games We gained Lillian Burkhart and Kormn Pierson We lest Sam Penry, Bob Hensel, Bob Rambo, Jim Lewellen, Dennis Black, and Austin Core Our class play was 'Our Miss Brooks Officers were President Dale Plains, Vice President Dick Marsh, Secretary Darwin Linn, and Treasurer Gene Westerlund Those missing from our Senior year were Cleo Hdlsr, Vivian Cartwright, and Clark Crussell Some of our ilpertant happenings were our Career Day at Clarlndn, working on the Animal, Sip Day, and the Junior Senior Banquet The class officers were President Dick Marsh, Vice President Gerlad Norcross, Secretary Lloyd Stills, and Treasurer Rlclnrd Orton The Homecoming Queen was Naomi Mauderly, with Arlene McCullough, Mary Past, Lou Ann Patterson, and Iatlv Stills as her attendants Shirley Sierp was Queen and Richard Orton King at the Valentine Dance, and their attendants were Kent Sith, Melvin 0lt- nann, Arlene McCullough, and Janet Noble low we would like to take this opportunity to thank all the teachers who helped us through these past thirteen years.
