Senior Class Prophecy One summer evemng as the sun was slowly smkmg lh the west a m1st seemed to form over the earth Txme flew swxftly by and the calendar on the wall saxd May 1996 We declded to take a trxp across the contment to see what all our former classmates were dolng We unrolled our maglc carpet opened the wmdow and floated away through the stratosphere Our frrst stop was Hollywood Calxforma Whrle tourlng the mght spots we heard that JANICE PEPER was ap pearxng at the Coconut Grove After the show we went back stage to see mf Janxce knew where any of her former class mates were She told us BERNARD DOMKE was the head mxmster at the Hollywood Open Arr Church We heard one of hrs very mspxrxng sermons on the evxls of tobacco and lxquor We could see that Bernard had changed smce we last saw hrm Bernard directed us to FERDINAND HANSON who IB professor of physrcs at the Unxversnty of Mexxco W arrxved at the umversxty just mn tlme to hear one of Ferdy's spectacular lectures Ferdy had lost track of hls former classmates Flymg over Texas we spotted a lone cowboy rxdmg the range He was havmg quite a hard txme keeping from draggxng hrs feet We stopped to see lf we could help The stranger turned out to be none other than ERICK FISCHER Erxck had just come back from wmmng the World's Champxonshxp Rodeo Contest He too had lost track of h1s former classmates So we contmued on to Louxsxana and stopped for the Mardx gras To our surprlse and bewxlderment JOYCE REICHMANN was chosen the queen to rergn over the se gay festxvxtnes Joyce told us she had been modeung batmng suxts for a large fxrm nn the south After the parade we decxded to contxnue our tr1p to New York At the Emprre State Blllldlhs we see MARILYN HANSON moppxng the steps Manlyn told us that she was stxll sxngle Kwaxtxng patrentlyl After a nxce chat about prospectxve males we went to see Llberache at the Madxson Square Gardens Who do you suppose was lxghtmg L1berache's candles 7 None other than KAREN SORENSON So many people were flockxng around Karen we d1dn't get a chance to talk wxth her but Lxberache told us Karen also shmes hxs teeth wxth her suede shoe brush After drrectmg our carpet through New York traffxc we headed toward Marne On one of the Marne farms we notxced an unusual crop We set our carpet down to explore We heard loud sobs so we went to fmd the reason What dxd we flnd? None other than MARJORIE WALTER weedmg her acres of omons and garllc We hurriedly moved on We headed north mto Canada and stopped for a brte to eat at a quamt French restaurant Bexng fussy as to what we ate we asked to mspect the kltchen Much to our surprrse RICHARD MERTENS was the head chef We lost our appetxte after learmng DELLA ALBERS was ln the Yukon Trackxng down Della was qu1te a problem Fmally we hu-ed an Eskxmo to help us fmd her After many hours of close trackmg we found Della drwxng her dog team We had a long vrsxt wxth Della and then moved on to fxnd DORIS SPRINGER The last thmg we heard of Della was mush We dxdn t have to go far to fmd Dons What do you suppose she was domg? She was chxppmg xce off an xceberg and shxppmg the xce back to Glenwood for the Saturday mght dances We left Dons merrrly chxppmg her 1ce Shwer mg aboard our magzc carpet we headed for Alaska The gold mmes were to be our frrst lmportant stop We stopped to ask one of the mmers to drrect us around We were aghast to dxscover that our guxde was MARLYS POLZINE After a brxef chat we left Marlys to fxnxsh her shxft We headed for Reno Nevada As we were tourxng the sxtes of Reno we bumped mto CHARLES HOPKINS He was sellmg shoe strmgs to pay alxmony for hxs three wrves Charles was thnnklng of marryxng agam but thxs trme was gozng to take his txme about He couldn't afford another faxlure Charles told us Tom was ln Arkansas Before we contrnued to Arkansas we stopped at Las Vegas to take Ih the sxghts Passing a nxght club we saw sxgn Come nn and see old poker face ' We decxded to mve strgate At the head of the gamblmg tables was ROSE MARIE GAFFANEY Rose Marte told us that she got her name because she had worked so long at the gambllng tables We had seen enough of Nevada so left for Arkansas Flymg low over Arkansas we saw someone prckmg cotton Knowmg that our eyes couldn't decerve us we drop ped down to see the Cotton Pxckxng Kmg lof course THOMAS WALKER! After learnrng how to pxck cotton we headed homeward to Mxnne sota We landed m Mxnneapolxs Someone told us that there was a good stage show at the audltorxum The Three Ink Blots were appearxng there In the audxtorxum we learned that the Ink Blots were LLOYD SCHNETZER DENNIS NEMMERS and DAVID FONER our former classmates We had to go back stage to talk to them They told us that MARY ANN GRUSSING was workrng at the capxtol Full of curxosrty we floated over to the capitol to see her W asked the Governor where to fund our frxend, Mary He dxrected us to the dome and sure 'nuff there was Mary polxshmg the dome Mary told us that Marllyn Clasen was workmg at Hzbbmg We couldn't fxmsh our tour wxthout vxsttxng Marxlyn We xnquxred all over the town but no one seemed to know MARILYN CLASEN Whale drwmg to see the mones a truck almost ran mto us We stopped to teach the drrver a few pomts on drxvmg The drxver was Marxlyn N wonder we almost had an accxdentl' Manlyn told us that she had been drxvmg a truck ever smce she left school What we couldn t understand was 1f she had been drxvmg for so long why hadn't she learned to drxve 7 ? Days Gone Bye Twenty two small fry clambered 1nto V1llard School on that f1rst school day 1n Sep tember 1943 They were namely Harold Alcott Marxlyn Clasen Erlck F1scher Davld Gaffaney Rose Mane Gaffaney George Gundman Marmlyn Hanson Momca Holder Charles Hopkms Martha Moon R1chard Oeltjen Jamce Peper Joyce Rexchmann Gerald Rothe Karen Sorenson Thomas Walker Marjorme Walter Stanley Palmer lla Palmer Mxchael Hanke and Roger Rothe Our teacher was M1ss Helen Thompson and under her leadersh1p we had a rhythm band Durlng th1s flrst year Roger Rothe left us In our second year we had a new teacher, Mlss Alv1na Landmark Davld Gaffaney moved away and M1chael Hanke and Harold Alcott stayed 1n flrst grade It was durmng th1s year that we recewed 1nto our class Rxchard Mertens Ferdy Hanson Marlys Polzlne Carol Velde James Zorn and Lloyd Schnetzer Dur1ng the th1rd year we were d1v1ded 1nto two groups wlth Mrs Butler and Mrs O'Connor as teachers Martha Moon and MarJor1e Walter left tlus year and the new stu dents were Wayne Tank Davld Foner Lotus Husmann and Carlene Rlchmxller In fourth grade we agaln had a d1fferent teacher M155 Hogan George Grundman James Zorn and Momca Holder departed and Gxlman Brown came Mrs Nason was our flfth grade teacher Durmg the year Bernard Domke and Sherwood Kaehler Jomed our class Mrs Nason was our teacher agaxn 1n s1xth grade After bemg wlth us only one year Sherwood Kaehler left but we welcomed V1v1an Allen and Denms Nemmers The next year we were seventh graders and really blg stuff because that meant umor h1gh and Jumor 1n1t1at1on We had qumte a change 1n our teacher lme up also Instead of Just one teacher we now had s1x exght 1f you count the two other home economxcs teachers that came and went The teachers were Mlss Johnson Mrs Ho1seth Mrs James Mr House Mr Ponwlth and the three home economlcs teachers Mrs Soderburg Mrs Haldorson and Mxss McNutt Thxs year we recexved mto our open arms three more pup1ls Max-Jor1e Walter Dor1s Sprmger and Darlene Fearmg Mrs James was our advxser ln e1ghth grade we had the followxng teachers w1th Mlss Pease as adv1sor Mrs Bernard Domke Gllman Brown and Darlene Fearlng Our Freshman year came wlth a well planned 1n1t1at1on awaxtxng us After bemg duly xmtxated mto the realms of lugh school we felt capable of meetmg all crxses our f1rst bezng the new teachers namely Mr Luke and Mrs Porter Della Albers Mary Ann Grusslng and Delores Olson came to enlarge our class Mr Holmes was our class adx 1ser In our Sophomore year we had Mr Parduhn Mr Vmcent Mrs Hoxseth Mr Luke Mr Wenner and Mrs James Our adv1ser was Mr Luke Under the dxrectmon of Mrs James we presented a one act play The Pest Guest wh1ch turned out very successfully Delores Olson left and Carlene Rxchmxller Louls Husmann and Gllman Brown spent thexr last year Nkflth us Our Junlor year was a busy one We honored the Senxors by g1Vll'1g a banquet ln thelr honor under the guxdance of our adv1ser M155 Tracy Be1ng more exper1enced ln the art of drama we presented a three act play thxs year The t1tle of the play was Brother Goose and lt also was a bxg h1t Our fellow classmate of years before came back 1n the person of Bernard Domke Carol Nelde dropped out Now at last we are Semors W1Hd1Hg up our aCt1V1t1eS 1n V H S are twenty one mem bers 1V1w1an Allen also dropped outl Our teachers are Mr Aaburg Mr Holmes M1ss Barber Mr Raeker Mrs Baldwm Mr Solsten Mrs Jensen and lkir Wenner Our adx 1ser 15 agam Mr Holmes Mrs Baldwln coached our play Swmg Your Partner and the Junlors honored us v.1th a loxelx banquet Now we are leax mg beh1nd our school vears but we shall always cherlsh our 11 emorxes of our Irxends and happy tlmes had wh1le ln V1llard School l ' I I I I U , .
