Days Gone Bye Twenty two small fry clambered 1nto V1llard School on that f1rst school day 1n Sep tember 1943 They were namely Harold Alcott Marxlyn Clasen Erlck F1scher Davld Gaffaney Rose Mane Gaffaney George Gundman Marmlyn Hanson Momca Holder Charles Hopkms Martha Moon R1chard Oeltjen Jamce Peper Joyce Rexchmann Gerald Rothe Karen Sorenson Thomas Walker Marjorme Walter Stanley Palmer lla Palmer Mxchael Hanke and Roger Rothe Our teacher was M1ss Helen Thompson and under her leadersh1p we had a rhythm band Durlng th1s flrst year Roger Rothe left us In our second year we had a new teacher, Mlss Alv1na Landmark Davld Gaffaney moved away and M1chael Hanke and Harold Alcott stayed 1n flrst grade It was durmng th1s year that we recewed 1nto our class Rxchard Mertens Ferdy Hanson Marlys Polzlne Carol Velde James Zorn and Lloyd Schnetzer Dur1ng the th1rd year we were d1v1ded 1nto two groups wlth Mrs Butler and Mrs O'Connor as teachers Martha Moon and MarJor1e Walter left tlus year and the new stu dents were Wayne Tank Davld Foner Lotus Husmann and Carlene Rlchmxller In fourth grade we agaln had a d1fferent teacher M155 Hogan George Grundman James Zorn and Momca Holder departed and Gxlman Brown came Mrs Nason was our flfth grade teacher Durmg the year Bernard Domke and Sherwood Kaehler Jomed our class Mrs Nason was our teacher agaxn 1n s1xth grade After bemg wlth us only one year Sherwood Kaehler left but we welcomed V1v1an Allen and Denms Nemmers The next year we were seventh graders and really blg stuff because that meant umor h1gh and Jumor 1n1t1at1on We had qumte a change 1n our teacher lme up also Instead of Just one teacher we now had s1x exght 1f you count the two other home economxcs teachers that came and went The teachers were Mlss Johnson Mrs Ho1seth Mrs James Mr House Mr Ponwlth and the three home economlcs teachers Mrs Soderburg Mrs Haldorson and Mxss McNutt Thxs year we recexved mto our open arms three more pup1ls Max-Jor1e Walter Dor1s Sprmger and Darlene Fearmg Mrs James was our advxser ln e1ghth grade we had the followxng teachers w1th Mlss Pease as adv1sor Mrs Bernard Domke Gllman Brown and Darlene Fearlng Our Freshman year came wlth a well planned 1n1t1at1on awaxtxng us After bemg duly xmtxated mto the realms of lugh school we felt capable of meetmg all crxses our f1rst bezng the new teachers namely Mr Luke and Mrs Porter Della Albers Mary Ann Grusslng and Delores Olson came to enlarge our class Mr Holmes was our class adx 1ser In our Sophomore year we had Mr Parduhn Mr Vmcent Mrs Hoxseth Mr Luke Mr Wenner and Mrs James Our adv1ser was Mr Luke Under the dxrectmon of Mrs James we presented a one act play The Pest Guest wh1ch turned out very successfully Delores Olson left and Carlene Rxchmxller Louls Husmann and Gllman Brown spent thexr last year Nkflth us Our Junlor year was a busy one We honored the Senxors by g1Vll'1g a banquet ln thelr honor under the guxdance of our adv1ser M155 Tracy Be1ng more exper1enced ln the art of drama we presented a three act play thxs year The t1tle of the play was Brother Goose and lt also was a bxg h1t Our fellow classmate of years before came back 1n the person of Bernard Domke Carol Nelde dropped out Now at last we are Semors W1Hd1Hg up our aCt1V1t1eS 1n V H S are twenty one mem bers 1V1w1an Allen also dropped outl Our teachers are Mr Aaburg Mr Holmes M1ss Barber Mr Raeker Mrs Baldwm Mr Solsten Mrs Jensen and lkir Wenner Our adx 1ser 15 agam Mr Holmes Mrs Baldwln coached our play Swmg Your Partner and the Junlors honored us v.1th a loxelx banquet Now we are leax mg beh1nd our school vears but we shall always cherlsh our 11 emorxes of our Irxends and happy tlmes had wh1le ln V1llard School l ' I I I I U , .
