Senior Weekend is a mixture of joy and sadness. Friday night we witnessed the splendor of a televised Inter-Collegiate Jazz Festival and applauded Stan Kenton’s clairvoyant decision. Saturday we danced our way into the elegance of the Florentine Ball— una notte a firenze”. As these last moments of the weekend are savored by the nostalgic senior, he realizes that the simple but beautiful things, such as the Queen’s winning smile, and the aura of can- dlelight shedding a soft glow on a date’s cheek, are moments never to be experienced again. 25

And finally comes the procession of Pomp and Circumstance, which cues the departure of the awaiting Senior. The traditions of Graduation which once seemed distant and far away, be- come a reality. The pedagogue’s quiet moment of prayer, the attainment of the coveted diploma, and the adjust- ment of the Graduate’s hood — the symbol of achievement are culmina- tions of life, love, hope, fear, anticipa- tion, regret, and—Villanova. 27
