VERY REVEREND WILBERT R. KIRK O.S.A., A.M. Headmaster and Prior rom Me .jsleaclmadferii Ebel . . . My Dear Students, Villanova's years of traditions have been enriched by your noble contribu- tions and achievements. There is nary a student enrolling within these ivy- walls who does not leave his impression upon the memories of the Augustinian Fathers under whose guidance he seeks knowledge over his high school career. Ambitious students, fired with enthusiasm and zeal, drink at Villanova's font of academic learning. Their eager minds are skilled to think in the classics and sciences. They are brought under the inspiring influence of Augustinian standards and erudition. They necessarily must measure up to all that can be implied in the term of Christian gentleman: a well bred, honorable man with the esthetic principles of Catholic living. Following the axiom of co-existing sound body and sound mind, besides eliciting scholarship, they are trained in the feats of physical strength and agility under the instruction of a corps of competent, loyal, vigorous coaches and athletic directors. Tri-Valley League laurels coming to Villanova this year, as in years agone, testify to the wisdom of the program so well carried on by the men chosen for these responsibilities. With the student body, the Head- master congratulates and admires these stalwart leaders. ln the above paragraphs l have been employing the pronoun they. lt may be asked, Who are they? The reply is wrapped up in another pro- noun, you - ambitious Villanova students - you are they e- YCU who will leave the campus Commencement Day fortified with a VILLANOVA diploma M a diploma hard to get - but one you will proudly possess and cherish. Reluctantly we watch you pass from the pale of our influence, our friend- ship, our teaching. We are hopeful you will visit your high school Alma Mater often. Our prayers, our interest in you shall be abiding through the years to come. Your Headmaster bids you God-speed and unending success. Very Rev. W. R. Kirk, O.S.A. Headmaster
