The Villa concert began the week's festivities. lfnder the skillful direction of Sister Eli- zabeth Parente, the Villa has once again at- tained exceptional merit in the field of music. In keeping with previous standards, the choir has brought delight with classical programs to many audiences. This year, in addition to concerts in New Brunswick and Newark, two Christmas telecasts over channels XYATY and XYFIL were given. The choir's,most salient accomplishment was performing with the Trenton Symphony as Guest Artists. During the year many talented girls have appeared as soloists on broadcasts over radio station XYTTM sponsored by Youth Audi- tions of the Airu By participation in local music programs, girls have added glory to the already highly esteemed name of Villa Victoria. Here, Father Toomey, active in youth circles. passes along a great deal of timely and helpful in- formation He gave us many fine thoughts with which to make our days at school happier and more profitable. As Sodality Prefect, Dolores Potkay ex- hibited many qualities of outstanding lead- ership. Under her direction. the Sodalists brought much honor to Jesus through Mary. The officers of the Mater Purissima So- dality representing the different classes are: Kathryn Schupan, Vice Prefectg Maria Chiara. Secretaryg and Irene Leonardi, Treasurer. The solemn procession for the May Crowning ceremony winds its way to the Grotto of Our Lady of Fatima. The members of the grammar school make up the living rosary, after which Father Leslie, the Villa's chaplain, delivered a beautiful sermon on the meaning of the Queenship of Mary. Smzle of Love A crown of pink roses is placed upon the head of the Blessed Mother by Prefect Dolores Potkay as the high school choir sings the traditional crowning song. The ceremony in- cluding the living rosary, a sermon, the crowning, and benediction, was a beautiful climax to the year's Sodality activities. The Mater Purissima Sodality, with Sister Gilda as its moderator, has tried to bring its members To jesus Through Mary by various spiritual and apostolic activities. During the months of October and May. the rosary was said daily at the Grotto or in the chapel. The Stations of the Cross were recited during Lent. The annual retreat held at Yilla lYalsh was a perfect spiritual weekend. Besides spiritual practices, the Sodality entered upon several apostolic projects. Food baskets were sent to poor families at Christmas and Easter. The Sodalists brought gifts and sang for the aged at Riverside Home at Christmas time. Clothing and candy were sent to the Vatican for distribution by the Holy Father. XYe hope Mary appreciated the efforts of the Sodalists to teach Christ through charity. The Sodality activities ended with the crowning of the Blessed Mother in the Grotto. Blessing Cgzffy 0 Service Again the members of the CSKIC have generously and enthusiastically given to the support of the missions.
