' ka' T are To B Different E! A signs All The theme for this year's Spirit Day was Hooray for Hollywood. The school was decorated with such items as pictures of for- mer movie and music stars, old cars, and stu- dents dressed up to express their impression of Hollywood. Also, the annual Door Contest was held 12 Student Life Our Own during this week. Prizes were awarded to Mr. Barrett's and Mr. Meulmester's classrooms for their artistic talents portrayed on the doors of their classrooms. This year's Spirit Week was a successful one filled with spirit and enjoyment expressed by all of the students on the campus.

of Just nofher ace This year's Homecoming assembly featured many traditional and non-traditional performances. The gathering of the entire student body started out with the usual chant from a well known T.V. commercial that became the motto to just about every assembly. After the huge mass of students settled down to a more mellow state of being, the mascots came on with their skit about the Homecoming Queen and King for a generation of the past. The Drill Team and Tall Flags received great attention from the two sides of the gym who watched them intently and gave the two groups the credit that was well deserved. Baton twirler Dana Folsom also showed us her talent in a nearly flawless routine. Finally it came to the crowning of the King. Each candidate escorted his mother down the red carpeted path to the other end of the gym. Ken Domer, last year's King, then placed the golden crown on the head of John Genova. in the rowd A We could only crown one king, but to us all the football players are kings. PA Cynthia Newitz drums her trash can while Marilyn Hettick blows her shell in an effort to make the VPHS Marching Teachers' Band sound a lit- tle bit better. P Posing as former Homecoming King, Eric Bates cries out for his Queen. PPA Homecoming King nominees John Chorbagian, Jeff Granito, Greg Larson, Lance Rabun, and their mothers applaud after hearing John Gen- ova announced as 1987-88 Homecoming King. PP Being the leader of the band, Brent Bailey shows how much spirit he's got.
