Wieh brink egins Evening W ll Dunn PHS 1984 Homecoming started traditionally with the Homecoming Assembly on Friday October 19. Returning king, Bill Mecklenburg, arrived to crown Henry Wiehebrink, 1984 Homecoming king. Tracy Burdine, Erik Doest, Wes Jacobs, and Scott Worthington had also been nominated. When asked how he felt when Mary Carroll announced his name, Henry stated, I was shocked and very embarrassed. My Mom enjoyed it more than I did, although I was honored to be chosen by the student body. To continue the Homecoming tradition, that evening the Homecoming Queen was crowned by Miss Karey Nixon, 1983 Homecoming Queen. The princesses were Jill Moses, Kristin Norman, Shelly Schneider and Colleen Triggs. Miss Jennifer Dunn was crowned Homecoming Queen 1984 by Karey. I was going to the game to have fun, and wasn't expecting to be crowned. When my name was called I was in complete shock, said Jennifer. Each princess was driven around the stadium in Mercedes convertibles and escorted to the silver platform by Henry and Erik, where they stood by their fathers. Burt Reynolds, a hired look-alike from Animal Crackers, was there to greet the court and give Miss Dunn a special gift. In charge of the spectacular event was Brigitte Prevot, Senior class vice- president. Brigitte was asked to organize the evenings celebration in place of Kristin Norman who had been nominated for the court. She had the help of Dave Dew, Mont Flora, Kevin Kutcher, Var Reeve, Katy Stone, Joy Tunstall, and Sheryl Wolf. Mothers, like Mrs. Jacobs, escorted their sons, Wes Jacobs, during the crowning of the King. Homecoming was a memorable experience for me. Fllll of all when the court was announced at lunch I wun't there. Wouldn'l you know itl The only day I exit out to lunch something like this happens. As I approached the campus, coming back from lunch, people started congratulating me for making the court. Of course I did not believe it, but as more people conpatulated me I knew it must be true. During the period between the announcing of the court and the crowning of the king, my friends made jokes and tried to embarrass me by laying to the girls I talked to, Don'l talk to hirng he just wants your vote. Knowing they were kid- ding, I laughed with them. new hebrink watch a Spartan ff Finally, the day came, the day of the At the assembly the motlsen' of the 'Milli 'IQ allthere we1conus.Exciu:nempewssus awaited the announcement.
