fl: ,Must ,Not Cntr Or .?alL Qar .714 One Hand ,On September 28, Villa Park meets Gahr High School at Orange Coast College in what is to be one of the most exciting games of the season. Little do we know that our hopes of victory will be answered, nor do we realize that this will be one of our two wins of the season. Villa Park starts the action with a large, 45 yard, kickoff. We keep the pace up with good blocks and tackles and hold our opponents to a slight 57 yards of running, as opposed to our own llO. In passing Gahr seems to have trouble finding receivers in the open as the Spartans do not allow one completed pass. On the other hand Villa Park gains 63 yards in the air. Out of sixteen attempts we have six completions for an average of 3.9 yards per play. ln rushing we average 4.l yards per play while holding Gahr to .9 yards. Probably the most memorable play is the thirty five yard run by Rosh Ansari for our winning touchdown. The final score is Villa Park 7, Gahr 6. 20 BOYS SPORTS Villa Park l-ligh School opened its i968 football season against Pacifica High School on September 20. Although it is a cold evening the Spartan spirit is up for the first battle. The game is technically considered non-league, but these first games are usually a good example of how the season will turn out. This is a fair representation of the Spartan season. We lost. Nevertheless, we did play a good game. We have 181 rushing yards as opposed to Pacifica's 69. We have 57 plays to their 28, and we averaged l.2 yards more per play than our opponents. For some unknown reason, however, they seemed to gain a few more points than we did. The final score, Pacifica l2 Villa Park 7. Perhaps the most outstanding play of the game is a forty yard run by Bob Rodgers. Even though he could not make the touch- down, he set it up for Dave Medigovich who ran seven yards to cross the end zone during the third quarter. I xy-s. xi.
